Education is the best means to move towards a higher degree of development. The Asociación Pro México has implemented important changes in the steps it is taking towards achieving at least 3 of the 17 Objectives of Sustainable Development which the United Nations suggests for its members: Quality Education, Gender Equality and Dignified Work and Economic Growth.
The Association, which is close to celebrating 50 years of existence, educates women and youth. We have brought together a professional team to offer our services. We have deepened the corporate understanding of our mission and vision as well as of our values, and modified our institutional image as we implement our chosen strategic plan.
Education is the best means to move towards a higher degree of development
Attempting to update the institutional model as well as the association´s implementation of its educational strategies. This includes updating the operating manuals as well as monitoring and evaluating our work. By means of Facebook, Instagram and our web page we try to keep the general public informed of our programs. The social media sometimes suggests areas that have been neglected and could provide potential future growth.
We are aware of the need to overcome obstacles that face the women and youth we presently serve and offer educational courses, training, and consciousness raising opportunities, giving our students tools to grow and realize their potential for self-employment and/or joining the job market.
Pro México currently have 27 university students who are receiving scholarships to study in 22 different disciplines in Guadalajara. We have also trained 530 women who come from eleven different small towns in Jocotepec along the edge of the lake. We also count among our students the 1728 women under the ONU´s Administration of the Second Opportunity for Women Program in Mexico who have been trained in one of the Centers for Consciousness Raising as a first steps in their efforts to become empowered, in the state of Jalisco.
